The dog holes are precision-machined on this 1½-inch slab, so my bench stops and clamps drop in dead-square every time. The protective coating has already saved me from a couple of glue spills without any staining. It's heavy as hell to wrestle onto the base, but once it's down, it's rock-solid.
The surface is so flat I checked it with a straightedge just for fun, and it's dead-on. My workbench used to rock slightly until I swapped this top on, and now everything stays put thanks to the dog holes.
