The grain on these oak plugs matches my face-frame boards beautifully, and they tap in snug without splitting. I had to trim a few down for my 3/4-inch stock, but a quick sanding made them flush as can be.

Trimmable is the key word here—I cut them flush with a chisel in seconds and you genuinely can’t tell the hole was ever there. The oak is solid and dense, not that soft balsa stuff you get elsewhere, so they sand down beautifully.
